FACES OF DOWNTOWN

I took a major street in my town and turned it into an open-air studio so I could capture the people who make up the heart of the community: everyday workers, business owners, and residents who live and breathe the energy of my town. With the street empty of traffic, the focus was entirely on them, their personalities, their stories. This project was about more than just portraits, it was about connection. The result? A series of authentic, unscripted moments that reflect the character and spirit of the community.

Beef. He told me his name was "Beef". He was a homeless Vietnam Veteran who brought all his worldly possessions with him to the shoot. This is one of my favorite images of the project. His eyes looked right through me.
